The Prodigal Son

So the agency I left to go join the agency that just recently laid me off called me today. Apparently I am still awesome to them and they'd like to talk to me about the possibility of freelance work. I'm supposed to go in tomorrow and get the scoop.

On one hand I'm like "No way, I can't come crawling back to my old agency no matter how cool they think I am" but on the other I'm like "Ah the sweet teet of freelance employment. I set my own hours, answer to no man/woman/dromidary, and can do all my work without pants on." (Speaking of no pants - check out notesontherun.blogspot.com and see my celebrity guest interview!). We'll see how it goes.

Retroactive Job Search Post #1

So I did some work yesterday trying to find a job. Sent my resume to the following companies:

- TMP Worldwide
- Moxie Interactive

Both via friends who either worked there or knew somebody there. I will say that looking for a job is much easier when you have a) past experience and b) people you know in your industry.

Also got a call from a lady with Talent Zoo but she wanted me for positions in Colorado and Orlando. I said, "Lady, I can't leave Atlanta! All my friends are here and I'm too old to make new ones". So she said she'd keep my resume on file and let me know if she found anything in Atlanta. What is the world coming to where states like Colorado can take jobs from good hard working Atlantans? Does that even make sense? Being out of work could be affecting my intellect. Note to self - look into it. Possible solution? Beer, admististered every hour via funnel or boot.

Interesting Fact #1

It takes the precisely the entire duration of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody to shave a 5 day growth of beard from my face.

Welcome!

Hello friends,

For those of you who may not know me, I'm Mike. My friend OLIVoR is actually the Georgia Department of Labor's On-Line Interactive Voice Response (OLIVoR) which is the phone line you have to call to report that you're currently looking for work when you've applied for unemployment. You see, I was recently laid off. That's what this blog is about - my search for my next job. Hopefully I'll be posting updates on my search as well as any sort of interesting news or information I discover during my many many many hours of having nothing to do.

So sit back, enjoy the ride, and wish me luck.
